Gas EMERGENCY - TIME to Get Radical!
>Just looked at my home page where I get the most emailed pictures of >the day. Top pic was a gas station in Stockbridge, Georgia where >the price of gas was posted at $5.87 per gallon for regular ($6.07 >for premium). I think we just caught up with, and passed you >Australia! >XXXX XXXX
Hi, I think they are all guilty of GOUGING, which is against the law. It would serve them right if instead of a GAS strike, next time we give them a REAL strike. If folks can't afford to drive to work, then EVERYONE can just stay HOME for a DAY - NO gas will be used that way, and shut everything down. Doubt that's really practical - but what a thought!
Remember, in the '70s the oil companies were successfully sued for illegal gouging, and many people actually got checks from them when it was settled.
I just received the following, and I am going to do it, and send to my lists. IF you want to forward this, PLEASE do it nicely. Copy/paste it to a NEW email, and please use BCC - blind carbon copy, so you don't send all the addresses.
ALSO, don't forget how many are NOT on the internet. PRINT THIS OUT, and SHARE IT. Mail, Post on Community Bulletin Boards, and of course GIVE copies to all your friends and relatives.

Lynda Farley ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From Tom Burkett,
HI, I have sent the attached e-mail to newspapers all across the UnitedStates.
I feel very strongly about this, and that our government is guilty of allowing such things to happen without giving us any help. Please read the message, then call the White House comment line and tell them you've had enough and want the government to do something about it. The number for the comment line is in the message. Tell everyone you know to call, too. Maybe if they hear from enough people, they may have to get off their butts and do something.
Thanks, Tom

To: oped@nytimes.com Subject: Gas prices are out of control
The price of gasoline has risen again, as a result of (fill in today's excuse), or so we are told. We're also told that as long as demand stays high, so will the cost of gas continue to go higher.
Have we increased our usage so much in the last couple of years so as to bring on this price gouging by the oil companies? Have the hurricanes in the last few years been so much more destructive than those in the past, that never really affected gas prices until just a few years ago? I believe the answer to these questions is NO!
So what is causing the cost of gasoline to skyrocket? GREED, plain and simple. The oil companies and those associated with them saw their opportunity and took it. And when they saw they were permitted to set the price as they pleased, they really went to town with it. I think they've made enough money in the last two years to clear the national debt, and it's time for it to stop, now.
Personally, I think it's time to get a lid on the environmental radicals, and allow the USA to use the oil we have offshore, and in Alaska.
If you have had enough of this illegal profiteering, I urge you to call the White House comment line, at (202) 456-1111 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. eastern time, and let the President know how you feel. Tell everyone you know to call, too.
I know I have cut back on driving, as have others. But we still need to drive to work, and for necessities. Let the government know that we have tried to adjust as much as we can, but soon we won't be able to meet our own budget. We can't simply borrow more money and not pay it back, as the government does. They need to hear from a MOUNTAINOUS THRONG OF PEOPLE, telling them we are being priced right out of our homes, and the situation is critical, especially for those on fixed incomes, or making minimum wage
Please, get as many people as you can to call the above number Let's try to effect a change, for the betterment of all Americans.
Thank you, Tom Burkett
