Train Your Brain For Weight Loss

"How to Train Your Brain for Weight Loss"
by Dr. Scott Lewis

The fastest way to achieve any challenging goal (such as
stopping smoking or losing weight) is to use the often
overlooked power of your mind. In over 15 years of working
with patients, seminar attendees, and in my own life, I've seen
the remarkable results that a simple change in thinking can
bring.

How else can you explain how someone who smoked three packs a
day for 25 years was able to quit instantly after just one
30-minute hypnosis session? Or the 65-year-old woman who lost
over 60 pounds (and has maintained this weight loss for more
than five years) simply by listening to my special audio
cassette before she went to sleep?

Experts say that the most important factor in changing any
unwanted behavior is having a strong personal reason for
wanting to change. We've all seen examples of what I call the
"high school reunion/wedding" phenomenon" -- when people are
able to change their eating habits and lose weight for an
upcoming event that's important to them. Unfortunately, once
the big day is over, most people regain the weight they've lost
because they stop focusing on the benefits of looking slimmer
and revert back to their old routines -- buttering their bread,
ordering dessert, and eating big pieces of greasy, golden-brown,
extra crispy chicken.

When we lose our focus, accomplishing our goals becomes more
difficult. The secret is to find a reason (or reasons)
compelling enough to keep you motivated all year long that
won't "expire" with the passing of an event. Whether you want
to lose weight, to look great in a swimsuit, to have more
energy, or simply to be able to climb a flight of stairs without
feeling winded, it's important to have a clear picture of the
benefit you're seeking, and to keep this picture continually at
the forefront of your mind.

Eleven years ago, I developed a special hypnotic technique to
accomplish this purpose which has been highly effective in
helping people create the type of mind set that leads to weight
loss.

The method is a way of "training your brain" for weight loss
because once you've identified your compelling reason, the
process of continually reinforcing the exciting benefits of
being slimmer will help shift your focus off food and onto new
behaviors that will make obtaining your goal that much easier.

I, too, have experienced the frustration of trying to lose
weight and keep it off. In fact, I created my hypnosis
technique out of desperation to change my own life. Prior to
developing the technique, I was almost 40 pounds overweight and
was steadily gaining weight. I felt like a hypocrite as I had
been advising patients about weight loss and couldn't control my
own weight. It wasn't until I learned how to train my brain
for weight loss that I was able to lose the excess weight (and
keep it off several years later).

The true secret to losing weight is having a reliable way to
keep focusing on why it's so important to you. You need to
look inside yourself and identify a vision that will feed the
fire inside you -- a vision so compelling that it gets you up
at 6:30 in the morning ready for a walk around the block or
helps you say no to a tempting piece of chocolate cake. Again,
hypnosis is the most effective process I've found for doing
this.

Rest assured - once you've trained your brain for weight loss
your body will follow.
