From: Sarah Snavely Sent: Wednesday, March 18, 1998 11:01 AM To: Lynda Farley Subject: Re: How's it going? Oh boy Lynda-- Drifter jumped the fence last night sometime between 8:25 and 8:30 pm. I've looked and looked for him, all night amd most of the morning. Called all th vet hospitals, both the Fargo and Moorhead Pounds, police, almost all of the grooming shops, dog obedience schools, and pet stores--no one haas seen him--it's like he vanished. Printing out lost posters right now, will put them in the grocery stores, gas stations, Petco, etc. I put ads on most of the local radio stations too. Called the Humane Society aand Adopt-A-Pet. I've driven the stretch of freeway looking for him, also all the busy streets--no sign of him. It's been twelve hours and no one has seen him. The residental aareas that I searched were so dark last night--I'm so worried, I hope he's okay, I pray he's okay... I also called the woman in the area with Afghans--people know her so maybe if someone found him, they'd call her. She offered one of her afs to use as a lure dog when we spot him--if he won't come to me or the greyhounds. Pray that Drifter is okay, please.... After only a few weeks together, Drifter has gotten lost. Because he's an Afghan Hound (born to run), and perhaps more stubborn than usual (he does have a history of being an escape artist), he could be just about anywhere. His previous home was in Tennessee. |
Drifter would now be going on 7 years old, and we can not tell what his coat would look like now. He is a VERY UNUSUAL COLOR FOR THIS BREED, and HE WAS TATTOOED. He may have been clipped, may be matted, or someone could have gotten him into a beautiful long coat by now. His tail curls into a lovely ring at the end. The above picture is how he looked at his first meeting with Sarah, and when he first got lost. The pictures below are some of his 'baby' pictures. He's about 28" tall at the withers, and weighs about 60 lbs. He likes the company of other dogs. He may have gone to a 'strange' human - but could have run away again too. He's a sweet boy, and wouldn't hurt anyone. |

First Meeting - Sarah and Drifter met on February 22,1998, when he came to live with her in Moorehead, Minnesota. It was love at first sight. |
As of Jan. 3, 2005 there have stilll been no further sightings, or news of Drifter. He seems to have vanished. I fear he could now be very far away, perhaps having been picked up and transported. It has been so long, but I still hate to give up all hope. Drifter really is a very unusual color for this breed. And he was tattooed. So please, no matter how many years it has been, if you think you might know a dog that could be Drifter, please call me (270)432-7272. I would still love to know if he is safe and happy somewhere, or whatever happened to him. Lynda Farley 2/21/03 Last Seen: Drifter was last seen heading across the river bridge into Fargo, North Dakota, on Wednesday, March 18, 1998.
