'Addicus', Hosanna Precious Jasper, Afghan Hound LOST in DELAWARE Sept 2009

Addicus was originally lost in July, 2008, when his owner, Donna Blunt was getting divorced.  It seems her ex-husband opened the gate and allowed both Addicus, and his own dog, a weimereiner, to escape.

I got this email from a friend (someone else who has one of my dogs)

Lynda, saw this guy and the name rang a bell... is he one of yours?  (from email I received 8/27)
http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=14498560"
(they removed the listing, but last time I checked that link, you could still see Addicus' picture there)

YES IT IS, it's Addicus, Red Man's & Dee's brother!  www.hosanna1.com/Hounds/PreciousPuppies/

I just checked the shelter's listing again (Sunday, Aug 30), and his listing has been removed from petfinder, but you can still see his picture below at that link.  I unfortunately didn't save a copy of that listing, but it said 'Atticus' (they misspelled his name) had already been through THREE homes.

I talked to the shelter below, where according to the petfinder ad Addicus was, just a few days ago.  It's clear to me they are the animal RADICAL variety, who don't think anyone should breed anything.  Addicus IS neutered, so no issue there.  I don't think they should be bouncing him through three more homes for no reason, though.  I am still willing and able to go get him, but they will not let me have him.  What should I do???  Be careful if you call them, suddenly he was asking me all kinds of nosy questions - how many dogs do I have, how much do I 'get' for them (I told him about 1/4 of what they cost us - that's the truth!), and I hung up on him.  How can we get Addicus out of there?

-------------------------- Below is the shelter info
$125  (quoted 'adoption' fee for Addicus)  -  I WILL REPAY it if someone can help get him OUT of there!

I just checked their website again today, Sunday, Aug. 30, and I don't see him listed there now.  God knows WHAT they have done with him - perhaps placed him again, or even put him down.  I don't dare call them again, the guy I talked to last week was obviously one of those Animal Radicals, who thinks NO one should breed, and breeders are the lowest garbage on earth.  Now I don't know if they placed Addicus again, or put him down, or simply took him off their website because I called them and let them know I am his breeder?  If any of you can call, perhaps just ask for a male Afghan Hound?  If he's still there, and still available, maybe they will tell you, so long as they don't think you are a breeder???  (they said they have PLACED him again)

We should still keep an eye on this shelter then, as they obviously don't have a clue about this breed.  The ad said he'd been in 'three homes already'.   : (  Also, I find it difficult to trust any shelter that has links to PETA on it.  They put down something like 88% of the animals they 'rescue'.  : (.

I sincerely hope he's in a good place, and not just pulled because his breeder was asking about him.  Even if they did place him, he could escape, or be turned in again : (  I don't sleep well at night when I don't know all the dogs are safe.  I would recommend for anyone who lives in DE area, NOT to turn anything in to this obviously animal radical run 'shelter'.

FROM ADDICUS'S OWNER:

Hi Lynda,

I hope that was Addicus.  I have been heartsick.  I told you when I came back home-my ex-husband is the one who purposely left the gate open.  We lost Bruno too-he is a weimarriner. I have been heartsick without Addicus, Bruno was his dog, and apparently he didn't even care about him.  I just hope he is safe and happy. I would be terribly sad if someone is mistreating him.   Donna Blunt

Subject: Re: Help for Addicus

Yes, please share this with anyone, you definitely have more resource.  I just miss him so much, even tho he sleep on the couch, ha, ha!

My last afghan died when he was 7, too early, and the breeder didn't tell me or didn't know that he had a heart condition, he was black brindle. He never acted sick, and in the last year of his life, the vet told me he had a heart condition and that it was too late to save.

My ex said when he died, he came up and watched me sleep, then the ex left him out, and the next morning we found him under his favorite bush,  I had to take 3 days off work, because I couldn't stop crying.  His name was Majic and I use his name for all my passwords, and I want to get a tatoo, that say Addicus and Majic.

Please do everything you can to get him back, and let me know what I can do.
I have never lost a dog before.

Donna

PS, folks, I know how she feels.  Though yes, I've always hoped our lost (and not yet found) Precious www.hosanna1.com/precious/ is OK and happy where ever she is, I've NEVER stopped wanting her back, or at least wanting to know what happened to her!

Addicus is TATTOOED, and he does belong to Donna.  If you think you may have seen this dog, please contact either Donna or me!  We need to find out where he is, before we can see if Donna can get him back. Also, he might get returned to that shelter.  PLEASE help keep an eye on it.  If they list another Afghan Hound DO NOT contact that shelter, please tell DONNA or ME.  THANKS.

A couple of folks have asked me if the shelter looked for any identifying ownership marks, such as tattoo or microchip, and if not, why not?  Here is my answer to them,

This 'shelter' is obviously one of the animal Radical variety. They don't believe in human 'ownership' of animals, so their standard operating procedure is to ignore any proof of ownership such as a tattoo or microchip. And that particular shelter has a link to PETA's 'Why we euthanize' page. You should know that PETA euthanizes something like nearly 90% of the dogs, cats, and other animals they take in (and usually have promised the owners who turn them in that they will find a 'good home' for them). Remember, PETA people got busted a couple of years ago for dumping 'euthanized' pets in dumpsters in another state.  They have the highest kill rate in the entire USA. I don't believe for a SECOND that the HUGE percentage of animals 'euthanized' (actually KILLED) by PETA are in the sorry state they show on their PROPAGANDA page (that's linked on that Delaware 'shelter' page.  If you search PETA's own websites, you will find one of their mottos is 'better dead than bred', and they are out to stop ALL breeding of ALL pets and animals, and END ALL 'use' of ALL animals by people, including the human-pet bond. They are RADICALS. I hate it when people keep talking about AR - Animal 'rights'. They are Animal Radicals. We have allowed THEM to set the terminology of the whole debate!

This sort of 'shelter' isn't interested in the least in reuniting LOST or STOLEN pets with their owners.  They use each dog and cat they take in as a means of bashing breeders (who they consider 'evil'), and owners, since they don't recognize human 'ownership' of animals.  This is why they are continually agitating for changes in the LAWS, to make humans the 'guardians' of animals, rather than property OWNED by humans, and why they use the terminology of 'ADOPTION' (like the terminology used for humans).  IMO, a REAL shelter WOULD LOOK for ownership marks such as tattoos and microchips, and be RESPONSIBLE in trying to reunite a lost or stolen pet with it's OWNER, BEFORE seeking a 'new home' for it.  ALL they had to do in Addicus's case was READ the TATTOO on his belly, and call 1-800-tattoos - and Addicus WOULD HAVE BEEN REUNITED WITH HIS OWNER LAST YEAR!

INSTEAD, they DID NOT do that, they have BOUNCED HIM THROUGH THREE 'HOMES' already, and REFUSED to RETURN HIM TO HIS BREEDER (me).  And, IF I had gotten him back, I would have returned him to Donna.

This is why I am FIGHTING AGAINST the animal radicals, peta, h$u$, and the rest of them. www.aalf.ws/SAVEourPETS/

PLEASE, IF YOU NEED TO TURN IN AN ANIMAL TO A SHELTER OR RESCUE, CHECK THEM OUT FIRST!
IF THEY HAVE SIGNS ON THEIR WEBSITE, OR IN THEIR LITERATURE THAT THEY MAY BE AFFILIATED
WITH ANIMAL RADICAL ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS PETA, CHOOOSE A DIFFERENT SHELTER!
AND DO NOT DONATE TO ANIMAL RADICAL AFFILIATED SHELTERS, EITHER!  THANKS,
