NOTE:  I am a PRESERVATION breeder.  Interested in genetics as a pre-teen, I have had a lifelong passion for it. Breeding IS APPLIED GENETICS, among other things. I have only ever bred dogs I believed would produce SOUND (in body AND TEMPERAMENT), CORRECT according to the Afghan Hound Breed Standard American Version, and beautiful Afghan Hounds. I have used detailed thorough methods for evaluating my litters, ever since my 2^nd litter in 1997.  I have done APPROPRIATE health testing, and VERY THOROUGH pedigree research, back 10 generations on our Foundation dog and bitches. There are links to these on quite a few of my puppy pages.  I have taken LIFE TIME responsibility for EVERY dog I've bred, and then some.  There are links to photo pages of EVERY litter I've ever bred here www.hosanna1.com/Hounds/ .  We have finished and/or produced dozens of Champions, several Grand Champions, and the current youngest Champion in the history of this breed, also a couple of Field Champions including a whole USA/all breeds #1 racing and coursing hound. 

When I was younger and more physically fit, I kept only the best boy and girl from each litter, and PUT them in the show ring, to make sure they could be competitive with other dogs. I placed all the others carefully in companion homes. This is one of the oldest breeds, and IMO the most beautiful.  Since I also have 6 kids, and 21 grandkids (so far), temperament has always been of HIGHEST priority for me.

In all our years, we have not produced ANY serious genetic health defects.  This includes lung and stomach torsion, and chylothorax, which are showing up in very well known lines, and for which THERE ARE NO TESTS.
